The Reverend Mary Brennan Thorpe serves as Rector of the Church of the Epiphany.
She comes to ordained ministry after a varied professional life in executive positions in the Legislative and Executive branch of the government, in government relations for a major financial institution, and in technology-based entrepreneurial ventures. Her formal training, and her first love, is music; she holds a graduate degree in orchestral conducting and has sung with major choruses and as a soloist in venues up and down the East Coast.
She holds an M. Div. with honors from Virginia Theological Seminary, a diploma in the Management of High-Technology Companies from Stanford University, a M.M.Ed. from the University of Hartford, and a B.A. in music from New Jersey State University. She is also certified in Interim Ministry, has taken extensive training in diversity and conflict in organizations, and is trained as an EFM mentor.
In private life, she is married to The Rev. Douglas M. Thorpe, Ph.D., a pastoral counselor at VIPCare. She is mother to Chris, Sam and Allie, stepmother to Matt and Bryce, and GrandMary to Katie, Bryce C, Blake and Ben.
