Senior High Youth Group

The Senior High Youth group here at Epiphany is small but we get a lot done. In 2009 we made gift bags for our shut ins and visited them, we went bowling, ice skating and had a yard sale. Our biggest event was planning for and going on a mission trip to Marion, Virginia where we worked with Project Crossroads and helped to improve a house by painting both inside and out, reroofing, clearing out rooms, and general home maintainence and clean up.

In 2010 we went a mission trip to New York City to work in the soup kitchens. Some of the places we helped out were the Carter Burden House for the Aging, New York Rescue Mission, Yorkville Common Pantry, Trinity's Service and Food for the Homeless, Broadway's Presbyterian Church Soup Kitchen, Midnight Run and St. Paul's House where we also did a gospel service. We stayed at Bay Ridge United Church in Brooklyn. A total of 31 folks went including 7 from Epiphany.

In 2011, we will again partner with youth groups from other churches to do mission work, but this year it will be in a very different place from NYC! We will go to Tazewell, VA, in the extreme southwest of the state, to do rebuilding and refurbishing work in the homes of people who live in the "hollers" and who have worked in the coal mining industry. They have limited resources to care for themselves and their homes and we are honored to be able to help out. Seven young people and four adults will go from Epiphany, joining five from Gayton Kirk, several from Tazewell Presbyterian Church, and several from Big Stone Gap Church.

We have a bi-monthly Book 'N Bake sale to raise funds for our mission work. The sales are the third Sunday of January, March, May, July, September and November, please come out and support us. We also have also raised funds through raffles and donations from many wonderful people at our church.

Thanks to all of you who have supported us and helped us live into our baptismal convenant!
